The mitxela Fluid Simulation Pendant is a realtime fluid simulation, running on embedded hardware, inside a gold-plated hand-machined enclosure.
The development of the pendant is extensively documented in the youtube video and project page.
A very small batch of these pendants is now available for sale. Each of them was handmade by the author here in the UK.
The pendant is 30mm diameter, and 8.5mm thick.
The battery is rechargeable, and there's a magnetic charging connector on the base. A full charge should last about 10 hours.
There are 216 LEDs on the pendant display, protected behind a watch glass.
To protect it, the pendant comes with a small acrylic box, with black foam insert and a clear lid.
Also included are a single-page manual, a charging cable, and a generic faux-leather cord. The cord is 25 inches which should be enough to let the wearer inspect or play with the pendant, but you may want to replace this with your own cord or chain.
All the original pendants, including the prototype, are now gone. They sold out within a few hours (well before the video hit 100K views).
Due to the overwhelming demand, I have spent the last few months (as of May 2025) building another small batch of pendants. They are functionally identical to the first batch, and once again each one was painstakingly handmade and gold plated by yours truly.
I also prepared these slightly nicer boxes with laser-cut foam inserts to store the pendant and its accessories:
There are fourteen pendants in this batch (serial numbers 11 through 24).
The price for one of these pendants is £1200 GBP
Sold out!
Only a few hours after it was announced, the second batch is now all gone as well. If anyone is particularly sad to have missed out, let me know and if there's enough demand I may produce some more.
