Hey, I enjoyed watching your last video as I did purchase a bunch of old flipdot panels two years ago from Ebay. These are from Lawo. After a bit of reverse engineering I basically ran into the same issue as you described in your video, where flipping single dots is way to slow due to the sequential processing of rows and columns. Do you think your custom PCB design could be adapted to support Lawo panels as well? ![]() ------------- |

I'd say probably. You'll need to check the matrix is laid out the same, with the diodes on the row lines, and of course adapt to the resolution. The pin-pitch of the Hanover flipdots is 15.24mm (0.6 inch). Also worth measuring the coil resistance, the Hanover coils are 18 ohms. If it's different you may need different capacitors. Triple check everything though, would be awful to spend ages soldering only to find it doesn't work. ------------- |
