back to the hooked fingers design... I might succeed to make it work limiting the vertical play with some pressure excercised on top the front metal rod (there are tapped holes close to each extremity into which I can install a screw...) So still progressing slowly... ------------- |

I eventually did the motor's version. https://youtu.be/9jjSEVaLW8U Working very well but the servos are somewhat noisy in the video. And double notes (same note) if too fast make an horrible clicking noise if the washer is not fully in position to be hooked by the finger... I had to introduce a software filter to skip the next note if the previous one is too close! Overall it's a fun project, thanks for the idea :-) Next project could be to automatise an accordion I got from an uncle... Last edit by aeropic at 27 Jun 2022, 05:26 PM ------------- |

That's excellent! I like the way the handle is driven directly. And I'm pretty sure your way of doing it must be less labour-intensive than the way I did it, I spent a long time on adjusting the plastic fingers. I should make a gallery or links page of all the working musicboxes people have made. ------------- |

yes, it is so simple to make... Even the guide for the rod is held in place without any screw, only the original spring plus a 2mm rod accross the holes of the original guide! The hardest part is to cut the rods at the right size :-) ------------- |
