The usb however on my Windows computers keeps plugging in and out and doesn't work, however on my MacBook it has this issue once and then functions as normal, should I just give it time? ------------- |

I would recommend trying the original circuit. Or, in the schematic David posted, you could try putting two diodes in series where there currently is just one. Each diode will drop about 0.6V, you want to reduce the 5V from the USB to about 3.3V for the data lines. There should not be any problem with drivers, the original key works with every computer I've tried it on. Mac OS sometimes gives warnings about not being able to determine the keyboard layout but you can ignore it. ------------- |

I set up the original circuit and it worked thankfully, however for some odd reason on computers like chrome books the usb disconnects after 2-6 minutes of use. I did however leave the piezo out as the one I have is too big and just seems inconvenient ------------- |

Overall the project is complete, I got the code downloaded and the layout generally works, someday I'll go back and add a better piezo, but thank you both for all your help these past few days ------------- |

Guys Great project:- I complied the code and flashed using a Raspberry Pi 3 with just a breadboard as a programmer and it worked first time! I have a slight problem:- on the first key press the buzzer is OK - subsequent presses I get a constant buzz at a slightly lower frequency than the first. Other than that my key skills are crap and it's too fast for me. Has anyone slowed it with a variable pot? I think my buzzer problem is I'm using an active instead of passive - until a few minutes ago I didn't know there was a difference! Last edit by Bullstreetboy at 9 Jan 2019, 01:08 PM ------------- |

Ah, that certainly could be it. Yes, only a passive buzzer is needed for this project. ------------- |
